Bill Pauli is a forty year veteran of law enforcement.  He served with the Bridgewater Police Department in central New Jersey, which had 32 members when he joined in 1975 and grew to nearly one hundred sworn officers in the year 2000.  Beginning his career as a Communications Operator, Mr. Pauli then served as a uniformed patrol officer, Traffic Safety Officer, and Administrative Officer.  Mr. Pauli became a supervisor in Traffic Safety in 1987 and the Traffic Safety Division Commander in 1991.  Having also served as Commander of the Administrative Division and as an Operations Watch Commander, he retired at the rank of Lieutenant in April 2000.

Mr. Pauli chose to dedicate his career to traffic safety issues.  He earned the Certification of Collision Reconstructionist in 1985 and has attended a myriad of advanced training classes and conferences since.  He served as Legislative Liaison for the New Jersey Police Traffic Officers Association to the NJ State Legislature, as well as on Governors task forces specific to traffic safety issues.

Currently with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, Mr. Pauli is employed as a Reconstruction Specialist with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team; a Vehicular Homicide Task Force.  He has been recognized and testified as an expert in crash investigation and collision reconstruction in vehicular homicide trials and civil litigations.  Through the Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Pauli authors and administers several State and Federal grants; works with high school students on anti-drunk driving campaigns and underage drinking issues, and lectures to Forensic Science, Physics and upper level Math classes.  Mr. Pauli coordinates programs and participates with municipal agencies on bicycle and pedestrian safety programs.

Some of Mr. Pauli’s many instructor qualifications include Radar, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, and all levels of crash investigation.  Mr. Pauli began teaching in New Jersey in 1986 and joined Northwestern University’s adjunct staff in 1996.  He has lectured at scores of professional seminars, meetings, conferences, and symposiums internationally throughout his career.

Mr. Pauli graduated from Valley Forge Military College and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he majored in mathematics.  He presently serves on the Board of Directors for both the New Jersey Association of Accident Reconstructionists and the New Jersey Prosecutor’s Crash Investigator’s Association.
